Ronan Dooney
Musical Director
A
Dubliner born and bred, Ronan received
his training in the Dublin College of
Music where he studied trumpet and
piano. Since then, he has become one of
the most sought-after session musicians
in the country.
He has played with
the
RTÉ Symphony
Orchestra
as well as in films, including The
Commitments and The General.
He has worked with a plethora of artists
including Shirley Bassey, The Corrs,
Brian Adams, Oasis, Daniel O'Donnell and
even the immortal Bing Crosby.
In addition to his playing, Ronan is in
constant demand as an arranger and
musical director and has his own
recording studio, Skybelle Studios. He
has also taught music in performance
schools throughout the country,
including the Performing Arts School
Galway and the Performing Arts Stage
School Avoca. He is a most important
part of Innovations Theatre School.
Here since the beginning, Ronan most
recently worked with Innovations Theatre
School on our last production, the
almost completely music-based It's
Christmas!
Off the record...
Ronan has three sons named James! This
is confusing but true. He also has a
daughter named Alison. By his own
admission, Ronan is extremely
opinionated. Among his pet hates are
Harry Potter (the movies, not the books)
and Mel Gibson. He is quite a sporty guy
– great at tennis and golf, and light
reading for Ronan is philosophy.
