Lindsey Aherne
Singing
Teacher
Lindsey began her
musical studies with Irene Sandford at the Royal
Irish Academy of Music at the age of 17. On
completion of her Leaving Certificate, she was
awarded a scholarship for the Access Course in
Singing at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. From
there she studied at U.C.D. where she received her
Bachelor of Music Degree. She also received a
Diploma in Performance and Teaching. She has done
master classes with Ann Murray, George Chamine,
Jenny Miller and Penny Randal Davis, and presently
studies with Irish soprano Linda Lee. She also
attends opera classes with well-known soprano
Suzanne
Murray.
Lindsey is a soprano
focused on the classical repertoire. Operatic
performances include the role of Fortuna in
Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea in
London and other U.K. venues and Samson et
Dalila with the Anna Livia Opera in the Gaiety
Theatre Dublin. Solo performances include concerts
with tenors Anthony Kearns and James Kinsella, as
well as with Irish band, the Frank and Walters.
She has sung with the Royal Irish Academy of Music
Choir in the University of Limerick, the National
Concert Hall and the National Gallery.
In addition to her
work with Innovations, she currently teaches
singing, choir and theory in the Wicklow School of
Music and Drama and in Gael Schoil Cill Mhantain.
Not only does
Lindsey love classical music, she enjoys gospel,
Motown, musical theatre and Irish music as
well.
