Innovations Theatre School Gorey
Founded in January 2005 as the Performing Arts Stage School
Gorey (leading to the addition of the "Avoca" suffix to its
sister school), the school is also made up of classically named
classes – Columbine, Scapino, Pierrot, Harlequin, Domino and
Scaramouche – that meet on Saturday mornings in Gorey Community
College. Begun in September 2006, Innovations Irish dance
classes run by
Laura Kitt
also take place every Saturday afternoon
in Gorey.
Innovations Theatre School Gorey is notable as several of its
students have benefited from our association with various
casting agencies including the Hubbard Casting Agency,
which is responsible for casting all kinds of movies, from small
Irish films like
Angela's Ashes and The Commitments, to international
blockbusters such as The Da Vinci Code, King Kong,
and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. For example, David
Bardon has appeared in the current Road Safety ad campaign and
David Beattie was selected to feature in a film recently shot by
Moonstone International Screen Labs.

The Student of the
Year Award is an annual award that goes to the
student who has made substantial progress during the
year, who has shown real focus, determination and
desire to achieve. The teachers vote from a
shortlist of five or six nominees, and the winner is
announced on the last night of the Spring show.
PACE (Performing Arts Certificate of Excellence)
Award
Sarah Morris
2007 PACE
Winner
The PACE is not an
annual award – it is given only when an exceptional
student occasionally arises. The winner must excel
in all three disciplines (i.e. singing, dancing,
acting), must contribute in other ways behind the
scenes, must be willing to muck in with the
non-glamorous jobs (i.e. sweeping the hall, minding
the younger children, putting up posters) must be
well liked by the students and must be a unanimous
decision by the teachers.
PACE also stands for
Professionalism, Achievement, Contribution and
Excellence.
